On his travels, Perseus meets an old man, wandering the earth.

Diogenes, the old man, is on a quest to search for just one honest person in the world.

Because he can tell about character just by looking at a person, he carries around a lantern, peering into people’s faces.

Diogenes'' Story...

Diogenes has been on the road for many decades, so he carries around a bathtub to soak his aching feet.

Diogenes is a real historical figure, an ancient Greek philosopher born in 412 B.C., who belonged to the Cynic School of Greek philosophy.

He believed that good birth, riches, and honor did not help people lead a worthy life. In other words, Diogenes was a real pessimist.

That might be why he worked so hard to find an honest person. In our play, Diogenes is thrilled to finally discover someone who is honest. Not everyone agrees with his choice, however!
